Willow Brooke's Sexy Shifter/Vampires In Rush Against Time #menage

Today we have Willow Brooke discussing her Twisted Fate series and the sexy shifter/vampires who rule the pages! Have a seat, some coffee, and indulge in this sexy new menage release, Rush Against Time.

~Mia

When I began the Twisted Fate series, I had no intention of it going in the direction it ended up. My ideas of creating a shifter/vampire series with a few other magical elements was soon overtaken by my muse, and ghosts and a few more darker elements were thrown into the mix. I am usually a poonie when it comes to thriller type movies and books, which made adding more scary features a surprise!

The second book is going to incorporate a variety of paranormal and magical beings, without running away and going too far into left field. I want to keep the characters and the setting somewhat grounded enough to allow the reader to say, “What if this really happened?” There is nothing better than being able to fall into a world that leaves you wondering and day dreaming about the possibilities of fiction becoming facts. Our world is full of unexplainable things, so why not make them fun?

From a fight between good and evil, there is always a grey area that is crossed into to no prevail. Stepping too far into the dark can be catastrophic, but knowing how far to go is sometimes impossible. Join me on a journey of heart stopping action, twitterpating love, burning desire, and an emotional ride that will keep you entertained until the last page!

Blurb for Rush Against Time (Twisted Fate 1)...

Jessa Meadows is an average girl, living the average life…of a wolf shifter. Following traditions is expected, and something she can’t bring herself to do. Her first heat slams her into a hormonal, irrational P.M.S. hell that she fights with all of her might. She refuses to give her virginity to the first mutt that comes along, however wrong or unheard of it is in the shifter society. Jessa wants her first time to be special with the man she is fated to spend the rest of her life with. The idea of falling on her back for the first horn dog that comes along makes her stomach turn.

The wolves come in herds, giving every corny and rude pickup line invented. Fighting off the suitors and her agitated wolf proves to be more complicated than she had originally anticipated, until illness sets in and leaves her at her horny mutt’s mercy.

Logan Runningwolf has grown up with Jessa since birth. When every man within sniffing distance overeagerly offers their services in every humorous and pathetic way possible, he moves in to chase them off and claim the girl who has held his heart since childhood. When a single kiss awakens destiny, he vows to protect and claim his mate.

Damion Shaddow is a highly trained warrior and Beta of the wolf clan. At the age of 29, he is a brick wall of pure muscle power and dominance. Life has become a monotonous hell that has left a loneliness the normal, shallow quick fixes can’t fill. He is in a rut, and needs to change something, fast.

When he catches sight of the sexy little minx stretched half-naked on the couch, his wolf lunges at his guards. Confusion and anger well up in him at the realization the curvaceous beauty is Jessa, a silly shifter girl who used to tease and play jokes. Desire spikes in ways he has never felt….

Gavin Blackard has waited centuries to find the one woman the universe has picked to stand by his eternal side. When he finds Jessa in her dreams, his search is over. He sees her growing more ill every day, and knows time is running out.

Before he can save her from the heat, his sister threatens the lives of hundreds and the balance of the universe. He has to stop her before it’s too late, and save his one and only true love in a rush against time…..

Three chosen mates, one demonic premonition…. Can fate prevail and save the world?

Excerpt for Rush Against Time (Twisted Fate 1)...

Jessa Meadows shifted her weight between each foot unable to stand still. Today had proven to be even worse than the previous with no end in sight. The past few months had been a hurricane of agonizing disastrous events. With a huff, she slung her silky golden hair over her shoulder and handed the huge cup of coffee across the counter to the disgruntled and obviously caffeine deprived woman. When she turned around to grab the glass blender pitcher, she knocked it off onto the tile floor and it exploded into shards.

Jessa cursed under her breath at the broken glass that lay scattered around her feet. The past six months she had been slammed straight into her first heat with a vengeance. The more she fought it, the longer it dragged on and the more intense it grew. What was supposed to be a milestone in growing up as a shifter had become a living nightmare. It was similar to human puberty, only jacked up on steroids. A shifter could not scent their mate or be scented by their mate until after losing their virginity, or receiving a kiss from them. It was expected of all shifters to experiment sexually during this time, where in the human world it was socially and morally wrong to scratch every hormonal itch. Like wild animals, they would bang every single wolf who so much as gave them a wink and a smile. It was an animalistic fuck fest, and Jessa wanted no part of it. Her wolf fought for control, lunging at every weak spot in an attempt to take over. She was mentally drained, and physically restless. Obviously clumsy could be added to the growing list now, too. Yippie freakin’ skippy. Frustration pooled in the rims of her eyes and threatened to spill as she cleaned up the shards.

Every man within sniffing distance was all up in her personal space, eagerly offering his services in every humorous and pathetic way possible. The problem was, she refused to give her virginity to the first mutt that came along. It might be unheard of in shifter society, but Jessa wanted her first time to be meaningful. The idea of falling on her back for the first horn dog that came along at the right time made her stomach turn.

Lost deep in the recess of her thoughts while robotically preparing the next order at Mocha Express, her wolf growled and pranced in a challenging dance at the scents that wafted in her direction. The sudden yelp from the group of girls at the counter was a reality mental slap. The animalistic noise must have slipped out, because they now looked at her as if she had grown a tail. She had to resist the urge to peek behind her and make sure she hadn’t. Super. Jessa offered up a sweet smile, hoping it would dissipate their sudden shock. Mocha Express was one of the few chains that catered to both humans and otherworldly creatures, offering treats and beverages for shifters, vampires, and many other magical creatures that humans were oblivious to. Plus, it provided cover for the group that occupied the attached mansion.

Vampires and shifters took up residency at Gates Manor, a huge mansion that dated back into the eighteenth century. The eclectic group of paranormal prodigies worked together to keep the balance of the world in order. To prevent the devil from spreading evil through demon possessions and taking over the magical community, angels banded together with this elite group and gave direct orders for them to follow. Not many knew of the group’s existence, and great measures were taken to keep it that way. They were known as the Guardians by the select few who helped and fought with them on each mission.

Michael Stone was the head vampire in the agency, who was in charge of all of the vampires on the continent. He had a huge army of vampires at his ready who fought without question and at a moment’s notice. His wife, Christina, was the most powerful witch who originated from the first bloodline. Her aunt Autumn had been until Christina accepted her powers in the moon ritual. Together, the duo was unbeatable. Most witches needed three to harness magic to their full abilities. Autumn and Christina didn’t.

Next was Alan Black, one of Autumn’s two mates. He was the alpha of the wolf shifters in Northern America and represented them in the Guardians. Her other mate, Braden Wilder, was the alpha of the jaguar shifters in North America and also member of the Guardians. Together, they all made up one big, happy—odd family.

Working the day shift at Mocha Express meant more humans and the need to contain her wolf better, but it also meant less shifters that her mangy mutt would try to jump on. It was a catch-22.

Unfortunately, word must have gotten out of her schedule change. The door chimed announcing the arrival of the mob of six shifter men, all sporting huge grins and hungry looks. The intensity shooting from their eyes confirmed the hunger they had wouldn’t be sated with Danish rolls or pastries. Anger immediately boiled through her veins. Tough luck, boys. You aren’t getting your hands on my cookies. Make a move. I dare you.

Quickly drawing her attention back to the task-at-hand, she hurriedly finished the order and braced herself for the scene that was about to unfold. With her wolf chomping at the bit, she gritted her teeth and shoved the animal back into its restraints. Time for some fun. Let’s see if you boys can keep up! She plastered the biggest smile she could muster, and turned to her overeager customers. “Good afternoon, gentlemen! What can I get for you today?”

Logan and Chad were at the lead of the pack, making their interest a far cry from subtle. Both were wolves she had grown up with, and who now pursued her relentlessly. They had all been inseparable at one time, going as far as to call themselves the three amigos, complete with wooden swords. Now, they were just a major pain in her ass.

Chad was blonde haired and blue eyed, with a true surfer boy appearance that stood out like a sore thumb in the farm country of Oklahoma. He preferred board shorts and tank tops to jeans and flannel like most of the residents of Creekville. The small town was known for its remote location, rich strawberries, and numerous lakes, creeks, and rivers. It was an ideal place for mythical creatures of all types, and was one of the only places witches, shifters, and vampires cohabited harmoniously.

Logan was the first to approach, with his pearly whites sparkling bright. His hair mopped in adorable sandy brown ringlets, giving him more of an angelic look that hid his true orneriness. A mischievous twinkle gleamed in his chocolate brown eyes, making Jessa’s breath hitch a notch in her chest. Good looking or not, she wasn’t interested. He was definitely up to something, making her guards triple and her eyes narrow in preparation for the bullshit she was about to be fed.

He leaned over the counter toward her, getting his lips mere inches from her ear. “Are you on the menu, Jessa?”

“No, but I can get you a cold frappe to ice your troubles away, and maybe an order of doughnut holes to stuff in your hole?” She gave her best no-nonsense face and rested her hand on her hip impatiently.

Do Vegans Swallow? #SnippetSunday from Spy Games: Endgame

One of my favorite parts parts of Spy Games: Endgame actually ended up being a highlight of a really bad week. I belong to several Facebook groups, and in one of my favorites, one of the husbands commented on a book his wife was reading. He said something to the effect of, "I walked by and all that caught my eye was, 'Do you think vegans swallow?'"

He wanted to know where that idea came from, and what sparked that character to make that comment. It went on to be a rollicking good comment time, and I really enjoyed everyone's thoughts on the subject. It brightened my day to know such a silly thing I had written could make a group smile and laugh.

So the story behind the snippet...

Aaron Anderson is a actor, and he had a quirky sense of humor being the youngest of five brothers. He's smart and spends half of the book researching the oddest things. So when he decided Charlotte needed to lighten up a little during a surveillance stake out, he turned to his favorite subject--blowjobs and the quest to get one.

#SnippetSunday from Spy Games: Endgame...

Aaron pondered her for a moment and decided to lighten the mood. “Here’s a burning question— do you think vegans swallow? If I slap that into a search engine, would something pop up?”

“I was a vegan. I swallowed,” Charlotte said and yanked at his pants. His cock popped free, already working on hard.

Was a vegan? Wait! I was kidding.” Obviously, she wasn’t kidding because his dick was in her mouth.

#MySexySaturday Caring is Sexy! Featuring Ripped by Mia Downing

The rules are simple: 7 words, 7 sentences or 7 paragraphs. Whatever we wish, and we've got an entry for My Sexy Saturday!

Today I chose 7 paragraphs from Ripped, my m/m erotic romance from the Boys of Summer series. I find this selection sexy because sometimes, sexy is something as easy as a loved one caring enough to take away your pain. As Gavin says, everything happens for a reason. There was a reason these two lovers found their way to each other later in time.

An excerpt from Ripped...

Gavin rose and hesitated. “I would like you to stay. Sleep with me. Would you? We haven’t slept next to each other since the tree house.”

No, they hadn’t, and Erik wanted nothing more. That time, he’d dreamed of slipping into Gavin’s sleeping bag. This time, he wouldn’t have to. “I remember.”

Gavin smiled softly at the memories. “Good times, those were.”

“If I had…” Erik swallowed, needing to know. “If I had crawled into your sleeping bag with you back then, do you think our lives would have been different?” He didn’t care about his life, because his was pretty sweet. He only wanted to take Gavin’s pain.

Gavin’s smile saddened. “Everything happens for a reason. Even me being an addict. Probably losing Ang. It all has a reason, I think, a part in the grand schematic that makes up life.”

“Fuck that. I want to go back in time, slip into your sleeping bag, and let it change.” Erik fought the anger. Screw the whole greater plan in life. Though he was grateful for the plan’s sudden turn of events, landing him in Gavin’s bed, he couldn’t help but feel bitter. “I wanted a miracle for you, way back then. I even prayed for you.”

Gavin hesitated at the door. “Maybe the prayers finally made it.”

M.S. Kaye Has Fun With Cliches And A Peek At Fight Princess

Today we have author M.S. Kaye having fun with cliches! I'm horrible at math, so the math one is my favorite. Have a chuckle and then check out her latest release, Fight Princess, available now!
~Mia
~*~
Thank you, Mia, for having me as your guest.

Fun with Clichés
“Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them, and you have their shoes.” Jack Handey

I recently read this quote, and I thought it was the cat’s pajamas. Clichés can be fun—and even more fun to make fun of…

Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Wait two more days. Chores are like wine. They’re better with age.

You can’t put toothpaste back in a tube. Sure you can. You just have to cut the tube open first.

Being over the hill is a good thing sometimes—like in sled riding. The hard work is done, and all you have to do have a blast while sliding down.

The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree. Well, it depends on how tall the tree is.

As easy as child’s play. I don’t know—have you ever tried to some of the video games out there?

Take the easy way out. Okay, if I knew the easy way, I’d have done it already.

What goes around comes around—and then you get a second chance at it.

Love is blind. Is that why the US has a multi-billion dollar beauty industry?

Another day, another dollar. I hate to break it to you, but if you only make a dollar a day, you’re screwed.

Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. Bite their leg. That way they can’t walk away with the food.

Give 110%. Does someone need a math lesson?

His mouth is writing checks his body can’t cash. Get overdraft protection.

It’s not whether you win or lose. It’s how you play the game. Tell that to the coach.

Kick some butt. It’s more fun to kick them in the head. That way everyone sees the damage—and they had to smell your foot.

There is no “I” in team. But there is in “win.”

It was a dark and stormy night. Since when have you ever seen a storm or a night that wasn’t dark?

Hits like a girl. May I demonstrate?

Meet The Hunky Brooks Brothers Lori King's Weekend Surrender!

Ooh, today we have a quadruple treat! Four hunky brothers from Lori King's Weekend Surrender, book one in The Surrender Trilogy from JK Publishing. Cowboys, menage, BDSM and hot sex? Sign me up! Settle down and try not to drool all over the keyboard!

~Mia

The first book in The Surrender Trilogy: Weekend Surrender is available now at JK Publishing Bookstore, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and All Romance Ebooks!

The Surrender Trilogy Book 1: After another painful betrayal and break up, Rachael Morgan sets out to prove to herself that she can handle a good time with a man and walk away sexually satisfied and with her heart intact. She could have never imagined that she would be agreeing to the proposition of a lifetime. Every woman in Stone River, Texas would jump at this chance, but she’s afraid she’ll leave pieces of her heart behind.

Raised on their family ranch the four Brooks brothers have always shared everything. Even women.  When they find themselves face to face with the one person who could complete them all, they set out on a journey to claim her for their own.

Fate can place them all in the right place at the right time, but will Rachel be able to overcome her relationship scars, or is she destined to live her life alone believing that no man ever stays?

Who are the Brooks brothers? Well, let me share just a little bit about them.

By order of appearance you have…. Parker, Rogan, Hudson, and Sawyer…

Parker Brooks is a Dominant in a world of vanilla. He has practiced BDSM at clubs but only with available subs and never on a permanent basis. His desire for Rachel goes above and beyond the realm of a D/s relationship. He wants to protect her and he is willing to share her with his brothers, but he still needs to brand her as his own…

Rogan Brooks is the oldest of the four brothers and the steady leader of their ranch, Brooks Pastures. He fell in love with a woman that he saw as too young for him, so he stayed away. But the longer he stayed away, the more the need in his gut grew. When he has the opportunity he has to decide how far he’s willing to go…

Hudson Brooks is the youngest of the bunch, and by far the most sensitive. He knows he’s in love with Rachel, and he has no problem shouting it from the rooftops. In Rachel, he sees a sexy woman who is generous of heart and capable of deep love. He also sees the future mother of his children, and a partner that he wants to grow old with. Now he just has to show her…

Sawyer Brooks is a delightfully lighthearted cowboy, who would be just as happy spending the day wrapped in Rachel’s arms as he is sitting in the saddle, or standing at a stove cooking a four course meal for the ranch hands. His easy going way of taking life could open Rachel’s eyes to a happiness she hasn’t ever had before, but is she brave enough to take a the dare?

Check out the first chapter of Weekend Surrender

Chapter One

Rachel slammed the closet door behind her as she emerged dressed in her sexiest, country cutie clothes. Her stonewashed blue denim miniskirt barely covered the bottom curves of her ass cheeks. It was paired with a man’s red and blue plaid dress shirt, and the shirttails were tied just under her perky B-cup breasts. She left the buttons open so her tits were clearly visible rising out of the top of her blood-red satin pushup bra.

Her tanned midsection was completely bare except for the crystal belly ring that dangled in her belly button. From the back she knew the view would be of the half dollar size daisy tattoo she had gotten when she turned eighteen, just above the top of her black belt. The hand-tooled leather was clasped between her hips bones, with a large belt buckle in the shape of a star. On her feet were a pair of black cowboy boots with silver embellishments, and her long, slim legs were bare.

She was dressed to kill with every intention of causing a few heart attacks tonight. Her chestnut brown hair hung down to the middle of her back in large wavy curls, and she ran her fingers through it carelessly as she walked.

Her makeup was applied with precision so her oversized chocolate brown eyes were nearly as prominent as her blood-red lips. She had always hated the fullness of her lips, but men seemed to love them. Mitch always called them dick sucking lips.

She hated Mitch now.

Mitch deserved Connie Sanders. The bleach blonde tramp had been trying to sink her claws into Mitchell Edwards for more than six months, and she had finally gotten her way. Well screw them both. If plastic boobs, and a spray-on tan was what Mitch got off on, then he deserved Connie.

Rachel was going to go out and find a man to fuck her heartbreak away. She wanted raw, dirty, raunchy sex. Not the soft, gentle missionary sex Mitch seemed to favor. She wanted to be shoved against a wall, or held down by her wrists as a large muscular man devoured her completely. That’s why she created this plan.

It was a Friday night, and that meant a packed house at Robin’s, the local bar that Rachel had waited tables at through college. She had met Mitch there, and he would no doubt be there tonight playing darts with his cronies, while Connie giggled and preened over a watered down margarita. So in order to prove to the world that Rachel Lia Morgan was completely and utterly over her ex-boyfriend, she was going on the prowl on his turf.

There were usually dozens of hot men at Robin’s on the weekends. All of the local ranchers and ranch hands from the outskirts of Stone River usually hit the bar on Friday night looking for some action. Never before had Rachel considered indulging in a one-night stand, but tonight was her night.

She spritzed a little bit of her favorite perfume on her throat, and then grabbed her small purse. On her way out the door she noticed her cell phone was blinking with a missed message. She climbed into her silver Ford F150 as she hit the play message button.

“Rach, I know you don’t want to talk to me, but I want to apologize. I didn’t mean for you to find out about Connie like that…Rach? Please call me so we can talk this out. You can’t just throw two years out the window. I made a mistake, damn it—”

The voice clicked off as she hit the delete button, and dropped her phone back into her purse. Mitch could beg and plead all he wanted, but she had already made her peace with their breakup. She wasn’t interested in his excuses anymore. She turned the volume up on her truck radio, so Miranda Lambert’s tune “Mama’s Broken Heart” blared out the windows into the night, and headed toward her freedom.

The bar’s parking lot was packed with work trucks. With exception of only a handful of cars that probably belonged to the female patrons of the bar. Rachel backed her truck into a small parking stall at the back edge of the lot, right next to a black Dodge Ram Quad Cab that looked like it had rolled off the lot and onto the ranch just a few hours ago. Realizing she had parked rather close to the truck, she carefully opened her door, and slipped out into the small space.

A large masculine hand covered hers, where it rested on the top edge of her truck door, and she gasped.

“Sunshine, if you nick my new truck with your door, I’m going to have to spank that cute little ass raw.” The voice in her ear sent a shiver over her skin, and she flushed at his words.

She turned her head to see who was behind her that would have any right to speak to her like that, and she nearly groaned out loud when her brown eyes met those of Parker Brooks. Parker Brooks was one of the four Brooks brothers who owned Brooks Pastures-a local cattle ranch. The four brothers shared two things in common, their love of ranching, and their smoking hot good looks. Dark hair, dark eyes, long lean muscular cowboy bodies, all tucked up under a cowboy hat. It made Rachel’s blood sing just thinking about the four of them.

Holding her breath she dropped her gaze from his dark eyes down to his sexy mouth, and she felt her own tongue dart out to wet her lips unconsciously. His raised eyebrow told her that he noticed, and she shook her head slightly to clear her lust fogged brain.

“I’m sorry, Parker. I did park a little close there, but no worries, I was careful,” she said with a smile she hoped would distract him from the increase in her breathing, and the rise and fall of her breasts.

It clearly didn’t work, because his eyes shifted from her lips directly down the front of her shirt, and then they dragged lower. His gaze drifted from her golden colored abs, down to her booted feet, and then he reached out and tugged her hand free of the truck door. Surprised, she followed his lead when he turned her around so her back was to him again. A long, low whistle had goose bumps forming on her arms, but the finger stroking over her tattoo in the small of her back was what had her creaming her panties.

“Holy shit, sunshine. Who let you out of the house dressed like that?” he asked in a gravelly rough voice that nearly knocked Rachel’s knees out from underneath her.

The meaning of his question sunk in, and her irritation overcame her libido. “Last I looked in the mirror I was a grown woman, cowboy. I don’t need anyone’s permission or approval of my wardrobe.”

Parker let her go when she tugged her hand out of his. She slammed her truck door and started to move out from between the two vehicles. “You might be grown up, but wearing a skirt like that is asking for trouble.”

She paused and looked back over her shoulder. “Maybe that’s exactly what I wanted,” she said with a shrug of her shoulders.

His slow, sexy smile made her mouth go dry, and she swallowed hard. “If you want trouble, little girl, all you need to do is ask.”

Trying to cover up her nerves at his deliberately seductive invitation, she snorted out a laugh, “If I decide I want your kind of trouble, I won’t need to ask.” Tossing her hair back over her shoulder, she headed for the door of the bar.

Before she could pull it open, a large hand reached around her for the door handle, and another equally large hand settled on her hip. Whipping her head violently, ready to give Parker Brooks a piece of her mind, she froze in place when it was his brother, Hudson’s face only inches from hers.

“Hey, honey,” he said with a quick smile, and a wink, “Let me get the door for you.”

“Thanks, Hudson,” she responded, sighing with relief that that was all he said. She wanted a wild fling, but the Brooks brothers were out of her league for multiple reasons.

They were all at least ten years older than her twenty-four years, and they were all wickedly sexy men. The rumors around town were the four brothers shared their women, and right at this moment, looking into Hudson’s heated cocoa-colored gaze, she would have believed it. She had an inkling he had heard her interaction with Parker, but she wasn’t going to tempt fate by asking.

Instead she tipped her chin up and turned back to the door, only to realize that it wasn’t Hudson’s hand on her. Sawyer Brooks stood on her other side with his hand resting lightly on the curve of her hip, and the rest of his body leaning nonchalantly against the door jam.

“Rachel,” he said softly, and her pulse took off racing. Okay, the idea of having a sexy one-night stand had merit, but now that she was surrounded by large muscular men, she wasn’t so sure she could go through with the reality. “No need to rush off. How are you tonight?”

Blinking in surprise, she answered automatically in a snotty tone, “I’m fan-fuckin-tastic, Sawyer, thank you for asking.”

His eyes darkened with irritation, and his lip curled up in a grimace. “Don’t use language like that, you’re a lady, and ladies shouldn’t curse.”

Rachel couldn’t help it. She burst into a roar of laughter. Not giggles, or chuckles, but large loud belly laughs. “Are you kidding me? Sawyer Brooks, I have seen you compete in the local rodeo, and heard the nastiness that spews from those luscious lips. Do you really think you can tell me not to curse?”

Sawyer focused in on the one phrase from her whole little speech that he liked, “Luscious lips, huh?” Those sexy lips curved up into an equally sinful smile that had her pussy tightening, and her thighs clenching.

She forced herself to roll her eyes, even as a blush covered her cheeks. “Whatever. I’m going inside to get a drink, dance a little, and maybe play some pool. Excuse me, gentlemen.” She reached again for the door handle, only to have a new set of hands settle on her shoulders and tug her backwards until she stumbled. Instead of falling on her ass though, her plump butt cheeks settled against the rough denim of a man’s Levi’s, and a heavy arm banded under her ribs holding her upright.

“Apologize, Rachel, you were rude to Sawyer, and he was just trying to teach you a few manners,” Parker’s voice rumbled against her ear, and she bit her tongue hard to swallow her moan of lust.

“No. Let me go, Parker, this isn’t funny,” she ground out, and she began to struggle to get out of Parker’s strong grip.

“Stop it. You’ll end up hurting yourself. Now, Sawyer and Hudson deserve a sincere apology, and then I want an explanation as to what you’re doing at Robin’s dressed like a two bit hooker on fight night?” Ice coated his words, and she stilled in his arms. A wave of hurt and embarrassment went through her. Did she really look so bad? She had put on the clothes that made her feel the sexiest.

“I apologize if I’ve offended anyone, but I have plans inside the bar that include a bottle of tequila, and a few spins around the dance floor. You are currently delaying my plans. I have no intention of prostituting myself, because I’ve never in my life felt the need to ask a man for sex. I’m dressed in clothing I picked out, and like. I don’t personally give a damn if you approve or not, Mr. Brooks.” She focused all of her anger on her words, and when he finally released her she sighed heavily, “Thank you. Have a lovely evening, gentlemen.”

Hudson tugged the door open, and Sawyer stepped back from the doorway allowing her to saunter past him. Once she was safely in the bar, she let out a heavy, shaky breath and made her way across the room directly into the bathroom to settle her nerves. It might take more than a drink or two to wipe the Brooks brothers from her fantasies tonight.

Motivate THIS! With #TWRP Editor Trish Owens #WW

My guest today is Trish Owens, editor for The Wild Rose Press. She's here to talk about GMC--goal, motivation and conflict. She's decided to break it down into three parts, and for some reason she's picked Motivation as part one! Go figure. Anyway, she'll answer questions at the end. Have some chocolate while you read. She's brought plenty for everyone!

~Mia
~*~

Thanks, Mia. I brought chocolate because the last time I showed up there was nothing here to munch on. Nada. Not a crumb of cheese or even a cracker. And it also sort of helps with our topic of the day: Motivation.

In life, we're motivated to perform actions. Some things are fairly simple, like consuming that bit of chocolate now melting in your greedy fingers. You didn't need much motivation to eat it. It's tasty, it's melting, AND it was free (it's really good chocolate, too!) So why not eat the chocolate? Bacon is another low-motivation food. Shoe shopping on someone else's dime...sure! Take this lotto ticket? Why, thanks!

But unfortunately...life is not that easy. Nor should your characters have it that easy when it comes to romance. It would make for a boring book to just have Ed and Mia meet and fall in love. They need some challenges to get in their way to prove their love and make them motivated to overcome their conflict to be together!

Some things are a little harder to motivate, like dragging my fat butt off the chaise lounge, away from the hunks feeding me said chocolate to go work out at the gym. Blech. But if I want a MILF body and to be healthy, I need to do this. That's my motivation to hit the gym. Of course, telling me Mr. Hottie who looks like Matthew Fox sans tattoos will be there increases the motivation. Win/win on that one.

Let's take our chocolate scenario one step further to show a different form of motivation. What if Mia over there ::pointing:: is allergic to chocolate? Yeah, that's a tragedy, and it makes it hard for us to motivate a reason for her to eat it if she's our heroine. Maybe her motivation to eating it is to spark an allergic reaction that will draw the evil dragon's attention away from the dashing hero, Gregor, who needs to escape NOW or he'll die. WAH! Of course she'll eat the deadly chocolate.

Mia's decision to eat the chocolate also sparks some conflict--what if the hero's clumsy fingers can't work the epi-pen or he has to scale the castle wall to call 911? That could spell trouble. But her motivation to eat the chocolate could be justified if it saves her darling Gregor from certain incineration.

Each scene you write should be motivated. If the Mia, our princess heroine, has said, "No, I am not dating Ed the horse poop cleaner. Period. I'm going to call Gregor, the dashing knight." Then there had better be some solid motivation behind Mia suddenly picking up the castle phone and calling Ed for a date instead of the dashing Gregor. Maybe Mia discovers Ed knows a secret about a dragon in a far away cave that Gregor wants to kill... A little smoochy smoochy and maybe Ed will spill all, so Gregor can be famous, win the king's vote of approval and Mia can get hitched. That's a great plan. That's motivation to pick up the phone.

You may find, though, that the reasons for motivation may change given the conflict at hand. Perhaps our heroine, Mia, is in the dragon's cave and suddenly realizes THE DRAGON is the hero! What if the dragon is none other than Ed, our lowly horse poop cleaner she's come to know and love, a shifter prince trying to save her from the real villain? Gregor isn't trying to save her. He's actually next in line to the throne, so he wants to kill her AND the dragon. Now, her motivation changes. She's not going to eat the chocolate. Maybe she'll pick up a sword and run Gregor through, race to the dragon, kiss him and he morphs into Ed, who underneath the straw and horse stench is the most handsome, kick-ass prince anyone has ever envisioned. Yeah. That's motivation.

Questions? Comments? I'll be around to answer them about motivation or about any publishing question you may have!

Em Petrova Talks Voyeurism, Great Shoes and Great Sex

Today, Em Petrova is celebrating her newest release, Unbroken, with a chat about voyeurism, great shoes, and sex! Woot! This m/m/f story is a smokin' hot western available from Samhain! Pull up a chair and a cool drink. You'll need it for her excerpt!

Voyeurism, Great Shoes and Great Sex
By Em Petrova

Your lover slips into a hot bath, and you watch his or her flesh sink inch by inch into the swirling waters, imagining the way it feels. Or your mate does a striptease for you, peeling off those tight jeans and T-shirt as your gaze devours every bit of skin.

There’s a lot to be said for visual stimulation. In my new contemporary western ménage, the two heroes, Tucker and Christian, are voyeurs. Meaning they like to watch each other—both solo and with a woman.

According to sources, voyeurism is a psychosexual disorder involving a person who derives pleasure from looking at naked bodies or observing the sexual acts of others. Usually the voyeur is hidden from others.

Lots of movies and books have scenes where the heroine is watching the hero bathe, or the hero glimpses the heroine swimming nude. Sometimes there’s a certain “ick” factor to these segments, but when voyeurism is used as a safe and mutual act, it brings the level of eroticism to new heights.

Read on for a “peek” at Tucker and Christian from Unbroken
RATED toe-curling, panty-soaking ADULT!!

Tucker’s gaze snapped to his and clung. A painful heartbeat stretched between them. Unable to battle his need anymore, Christian set his beer aside, leaned back on the sofa and unzipped his jeans.

A quiet noise broke from Tucker as he sank to the recliner and did the same. The grating noise of his zipper lowering had Christian’s cock hard and weeping with pre-come. While nudging his jeans and boxers off his hips, he kicked off his boots. Usually Christian left his T-shirt on, but today he yanked it off too, leaving him completely bare.

Every inch of himself exposed to Tucker.

Taking his cue, Tucker stripped down too, abandoning jeans with the leather belt and silver buckle still in the loops. When his pearl-button shirt hit the carpet, Christian drank in the sight of his friend’s well-muscled chest, sprinkled with golden brown hair.

Christian rubbed a palm over his own bare chest to the dark trail of hair leading to his cock. As one, he and Tucker cupped their balls, fondling the tight sacs, gazes locked on each other. Webs of want spread through Christian’s body as he thought about finally dropping to his knees and taking Tucker’s long shaft in his mouth. Of sucking that dark purple head and gathering the ropes of come.

He shuddered.

Tucker rolled his shaft through his hand, pumping it once and holding it out, erect, for Christian to see the glistening tip.

Choking off a groan, Christian fisted his cock, pressing down on the flared head so the tip slitted. Juices oozed out.

Then they were off. Hips rocking upward to meet their hands, cords standing out on Tucker’s neck and Christian’s belly dipping with each harsh breath.

Hilarious Author Anecdotes from Katherine Grey #TWRP

Today we have some funny author moments from The Wild Rose Press author, Katherine Grey! Come enjoy two funny writer's anecdotes along with a peek at her latest historical release,  An Unexpected Gift! I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when the cops walked in... Oh, read on and see.

When I first sat down to write this post, I planned on talking about something to do with writing but then decided to share what it’s like to have a writer in your life.  Here are just two incidents that show how interesting knowing, or being related to, a writer can be. Well, if that writer is me anyway.

One evening while walking at a pretty fast pace on the treadmill at home, I was working out various scenarios of my work in progress in my head. Deciding I needed some medical information, I called my nephew who is my source for all things medical. If he doesn’t know the answer, he usually knows someone who does. I put the cell phone on speaker so I could continue my workout and set it in the water bottle holder.

He answered, and not realizing how out of breath I sounded, I asked my question, “Is it true if you sing Staying Alive by the Bee Gees while giving CPR, you’d be doing the right number of compressions?”

“Yes, it’s true. The song has 103 beats per minute which is the perfect number to maintain proper rhythm when performing CPR,” he answered.

“Thanks,” I said and hung up.

Seconds later my phone rang. It was my nephew. When I answered, he quickly asked, “This is just a hypothetical question, right? Grammy’s okay?”

I assured him everything was fine and the question was related to the book I was writing. He asked why I was out of breath and I explained I was on the treadmill while working on plot points. I also apologized for making him worry.  Weeks later, we laugh about it and I try to preface any questions by saying, “this is for my book.”
* * *
A few months ago I met a friend for dinner at a local restaurant that has connecting booths. While the booths themselves are self-contained, there is a 2 foot tall panel framed on the table that can be removed so it becomes one long table. This allows large parties of 8 or more people to sit together in a booth instead of at tables pushed together. My friend and I were seated at one of these booths.

We don’t see each other often so caught up on our daily lives while waiting for our meals to arrive. Though she’s not a writer, she always asks me how my manuscripts are progressing and knew I was struggling with one of my characters.

Once the server brought our entrees and checked that we had everything we needed, my friend picked up her fork and asked, “How’s it going with Michael?”

I didn’t think twice about my answer. “I shot him. I didn’t mean to. It just happened. One minute he was standing there and the next, he was on the floor with a gunshot wound to the chest.”

A choking sound came from the other side of the 2 foot panel. I looked over and four college aged men were staring at me with various expressions of horror.

My friend jumped into the silence. “She’s a writer. She’s talking about a character in her book. She didn’t really shoot someone.”

The men all nodded in a manner that didn’t quite convey they believed a word of what she’d said. They quickly paid their check and left.

My friend and I laughed, and then practically hyperventilated when two police officers entered the restaurant not ten minutes later. They surveyed the room while waiting for the hostess. I had to fight the urge not to slink down in my seat.

“Do you think those guys called the cops?” my friend asked.

“I hope not,” I responded, trying to figure out how I would prove Michael didn’t really exist except in my mind.

A few minutes later, the hostess showed them to a table. I couldn’t help feeling slightly paranoid until we left the restaurant. While it’s funny now, it was sort of nerve wracking then. I did learn one thing from the experience -- always be careful how I say something about one of my characters when I’m out in public.

Sexy Autumn #SnippetSunday from Trained for Seduction!

Yay, it's Fall AND it's Snippet Sunday AND The Wild Rose Press has digital copies of my books on sale for 50% off!

The only autumn setting I have as of yet takes place at the end of Trained for Seduction, so that's what I'm serving up. Better than pumpkin pie and a latte--and no calories!

The set-up: This takes place at the black moment of the book, when Kate feels she's losing Chase's love and affection and he won't talk to her. She does the only thing she's been trained to do--seduce him for answers. Enjoy!

A Snippet from Spy Games: Trained for Seduction...

His hand rose, shaking, and touched her arm. The contact was electric. Shocks ran from his fingers along her skin straight to her core. He stepped closer and she could inhale his scent— guns and Chase. The air around them became supercharged, the current dangerous yet alluring at the same time. He glanced down at her arm, where his hand was, then he met her gaze again.

Fear raced with desire along the current between them. He was going to turn away. She dug deeper into her training, remembering his words. She reached behind her back, unsnapped her bra, and let it fall so she stood topless, her breasts exposed, the autumn air puckering her nipples.

Trained for Seduction is available in e-book or print

Yay! We have another birthday celebration! This is a belated happy birthday to my #1 stalker fan, Kim!

Kim is Team Jake, all the way. So for her birthday, I came up with a My Sexy Saturday excerpt from Spy Games: Lethal Limits. Being the smutty girl she is, she looooves when Tia ties Jake up to the bed. First dates for spies are a little on the dangerous side sometime!

~*~

My Sexy Saturday 7 paragraphs from Spy Games: Lethal Limits...

Jake woke, disoriented, his neck and head hurting like hell. He shook his head to clear it and looked up at the ceiling, then lifted his head, his spy senses on full alert. Tia stood before him, leaning against the wall, her black hair cascading over her shoulders in loose curls. Her long fingers paged through a magazine, which was a strange contrast to how she was dressed.

She had stripped down to a bra, panties, and black thigh-high stockings. So beautiful, those long legs, that creamy few inches of bare skin between her stockings and panties calling to him like a siren’s song. The bra and panties were black, gauzy things that revealed as much as they hid. Her firm breasts thrust forward as she drew in a deep sigh, the nipples pert, ready for his mouth or clamps.

He went to say something and realized he couldn’t. His mouth wouldn’t open. What the hell? He then tried to move his arm to see to whatever was wrong with his mouth and realized she had him bound to her bed and gagged— probably tape. He hated tape. He wished she’d thought ahead and used a ball gag instead. Not that he’d ever tried one. He usually did the gagging. The binding.

He wiggled his wrists— more tape. No way was he escaping this easily. But did he want to?

He glanced down. A cool breeze over his thighs told him he was naked, and a test of one foot revealed she’d bound his legs, too. He broke out into a cold sweat. The idea of being made to submit scared the hell out of him but also excited his wildest dark side. His cock went from flaccid to semi-hard in a nanosecond, and it would just be moments before she had him fully aroused. She had said he would regret what she had planned. He’d soon find out if he did or if he wanted more. Right now, he wanted every twisted thing she had to give him.

“Ah, you’re awake.” Tia tossed the magazine on the desk next to her. “We have unfinished business.” She ran her finger up the bottom of his foot. It tickled and he jumped. “I didn’t realize you were ticklish, Jake.”

Neither did he. She strutted like a cat, slow, ready to pounce, stopping at his hip. Her smile was slow, calculating. Then she wet her bottom lip with her tongue, so subconsciously seductive. His cock jumped. “I see this excites you. I know it’s not your style, the Dom that you are. I told you that you’d regret what I had planned. And there’s a reason for it.”
