Interview
questions for Katherine Rhodes
Quick
round:
Coffee,
tea or…what’s your vice?
Tea—or a hazelnut coffee with hot cocoa. The later has become an addiction.

Favorite
Movie: There are a few, but my top 3 are, Star Wars –the originals, please!,
Ever After and Amadeus
Favorite
Color: Blue. Blue blue blue. I do everything in blue.
Favorite
book/author: Frank Herbert, Dune. Yeah, so I am scifi nut…
How
do you feel about bacon? Bacon is Ambrosia for mortals. All people
should—must!—consume bacon for life. Bacon is life.
The
REAL questions…
Tell
us a little about yourself.
There’s nothing little about me. :P Katherine Rhodes
is my erotic romance/PNR pen name—I write dirty over here so my mom doesn’t
have to deal with the questions. I live in Southeastern PA, I want nothing more
to than to quit my jobs and be a woman of leisure. And writing.
What’s
under your bed?
Cat fur. No, correction—tumble-fur. Big bushy balls
of fur.
…that did not come out the way I intended.
What
comes first, plot or characters?
A plot, and then the characters show me what’s going
to happen. I just wrote a scene where the character judo-flipped her fiancée. I
didn’t expect it.
Pantser,
plotter, or hybrid? Tell us about your writing process.
Pantser-hybrid. I pants it until I get to the point
where I know where the plot is, then I do a brief bullet-point plot so I know
what I have to hit.
Oddest
thing on your desk?
The Queen of England at work; my home office desk is
too small to hold anything but my computer. However, I do have a boomerang on
the wall.
What’s
your most interesting writing quirk?
I don’t know that I have one. I’m kind of
plain-Janer.
What’s
your favorite thing about the genre you write in?
I can be as sweary and dirty as I please. All
regular convention and restraint is tossed, and my characters can get it on as
they please.
What
is the hardest thing about being an author?
Currently: Unreasonable expectations from the a
certain quadrant of readers. And Promo. I feel like a whore. Is that irony or
coincidence?
What’s
the easiest thing about being an author?
Writing. Honestly. The story is the easiest thing. I
love writing and finding out what my characters want.
What
do you wish someone had asked you for an interview question?
When did you hit ‘the moment’—the one that confirmed
you did the right thing by putting your book and you heart out there for the
world see.
For me, it was the day a friend texted me, “You are one f*cking amazing f*cking writer.” I have the screenshot of that text… It was a such a cool moment.

for Consensual
The door read: Tessa Saint.
The truth was: she was nothing of the sort.
Even the name was a lie.
The woman most men fantasized about, a domme, a walking wet dream, and a master with a whip, Tessa
Saint took charge and delivered on that fantasy. But Emmy--the woman Tessa became once she walked out the door of the club--was getting tired of the game. It was time to try the vanilla life.
The door read: Nathaniel Walsh
The truth was: the man was an open book
Emmy was interested in reading.
Nathaniel was instantly attracted to the enigma of Emmy, and against her better judgement she lead him into her world of whips and blindfolds, kink and domination. Having a man unencumbered with perceptions of her lifestyle, Emmy could not resist Nathaniel at the tip of her lash, his willing bedroom submission.
The door read: Club Imperial
The truth was: Emmy hid there in the dark for a reason.
She should never have left the comfortable shadows.
Her secrets would find a way to the light--and it was only time until Emmy's lies were torn away and the truth revealed. Nathaniel wasn't ready for that.
Neither was she.

Blurb for Broken Bonds:
The door read: Club Imperial
The truth was: It could never hide all your secrets.
Emmy learned that the hard way.
Behind Club Imperial’s doors lay all of those Emmy never wanted to share. Secrets she wanted to hide forever from the world. And Nathaniel.
As she lay unconscious in the hospital, beaten and bruised, Nathanial never left her side. He didn't want her lifestyle—their lifestyle—to take away from the justice her attack deserved. Slowly, as Emmy started to recover, she started to accept all the good in her new life...
Until the day her phone rang and her world, all those secrets, came crashing down around her.
Terrible things she left behind suddenly reappeared, and her scars were ripped open. Emmy wasn’t sure she could survive the pain, again, and she had to let Nathaniel go to protect him from the hell of her past...
But Nathaniel wasn't walking away.

Excerpt for Consensual:
Excerpt for Consensual:
He
turned around and looked at her. Emmy had a look of concentration on her face,
and he suddenly realized how very far away they were from any of the other
people in the building. Alone. He was suddenly very aware of why she’d been
staying away from him as much as she could. The air between them fairly
crackled with tension.
She
cleared her throat. “Um. Well. Yes. Thank you.”
“Emmy…”
he said, his own voice sounding husky.
“You
should really go,” she said.
“I’m
not sure I want to,” he replied.
She
put her fingers to her forehead. “You should.” She looked at him. “Unless you
want me to rock your world.”
Her
phrase made him smile. “You’ve been avoiding me in the office all week.”
“Because
I want nothing more than to tie you up and fuck you,” she said frankly,
stepping back. “So unless you want me right here, right now, you should go back
to your office. Now.”
Holy
Fuckin’ God. Her words filled his cock and made it throb. No woman had ever
done that to him before, but he actually found himself torn. He wanted her,
more than he’d ever wanted a woman. But at the same time, did he really want to
have sex in a supply closet when he had all those rooms at home to choose from?
He could imagine her on his master bed, dressed in those thigh highs…
He
tried to step forward, but she stopped him with the clipboard.
“Think
about it, Nathaniel,” she said. “Stop doesn’t work very well on me. It did
yesterday, but I can’t promise it will today.”
He
looked at her and blinked lazily a few times. Pushing the clipboard to the
side, he made his decision. “Fine. Then don’t stop.” He walked right up to her
and pressed himself against her tits. He could feel her nipples poking him like
diamonds.
Emmy
drew in her breath slowly. “You have no idea what you’re saying.”
“Hell
yes, I do,” he said.
“I
don’t think so. Not even remotely.”
He
leaned in to her ear. “Show me, baby,” he breathed.
Emmy’s
eyes flared, and she tugged him back against the shelving unit. “Put your arms
above your head, clasp your hands together and keep them there.” She nipped him
on the chin, making him groan. “And don’t move till I tell you to.”
The
fire in his eyes would have seared flesh. “Oh, damn.”
Voraciously,
she brought her mouth down on his and demanded his kiss. Her tongue was soft
and probing and he took in the taste of her as she possessed him, giving back
full measure.
Nathaniel
felt a hand at the waist of his pants and suddenly those soft fingers were
inside and grabbing his ass. Her perfect nails bit into him, but the pain was
exquisite. He couldn’t stop the moan which escaped him and he pushed his
erection hard into her hip. Now, he wanted her now, right there on the floor of
the supply closet.
Tangling her fingers in his hair, she licked her way
down his chin and neck—kissing, nibbling, sucking, driving him absolutely
fucking crazy. Nathaniel was pretty damn sure his pants were going to burst if
she kept going, and he wanted her to.
