How
do you feel about bacon? Conflicted. I love the taste. But
also like pigs. That doesn’t seem to stop me from indulging now and then.
Hence, the conflict and inner turmoil.
(Mia adds...Okay, usually I do a bacon meme but since there is so much conflict in that statement, I'm going with a photo of what I think BARRONS looks like. Hot men should make almost everyone happy and forget the angst. I do not own the image. I wish I owned the man.)

Now for the real questions...
Tell
us a little about yourself.
Wow. Have a couple weeks? I’ve lived a wild and
crazy life. I learned to say YES to life and life experience many years ago and
have a rich life as a result. Some of it painful. Some of it joyful. All of it
interesting. So many stories to tell that are real. A friend once told me he
thought I made them up. I told him, “You don’t make this kind of stuff up!”
Here’s an example: I once taught firewalking in Ukraine. Many high ranking fire
officials were there from Moscow, all uniformed and serious. I taught through
translation so have no idea what was actually said. The fire officials sat with
arms crossed through the whole lecture part, making me very nervous. When we
went out to the coals, they marched across. Then, they ran across. They picked
me up and whirled me around, asking me to make the fire hotter (or that’s what
the translator said; they could have been asking me out on a hot date). It was
one of my more memorable firewalks. I’ve walked safely hundreds of times, across
40’ of hot coals, walked 108 times around and around a bed of coals, bent rebar
with my throat, broke boards with my hand, almost tried bungee jumping (I dated
one of the big dude bungee jumpers years ago), was a rock climber, tried ice
climbing and came home being dragged out of the park on a makeshift stretcher
(fell off a cliff, connected by my crampon at the top, dangling off the edge),
currently scuba dive and kayak…oh, the fun times I have.

What
comes first, plot or characters?
Characters! I have to fall in love before I can
write about them.
Pantser,
plotter, or hybrid? Tell us about your writing process.
Hybrid. I started as a pantser, but have taken plot
courses so am learning to blend the best of both worlds.
Oddest
thing on your desk?
Safety whistle for scuba. It’s one of the “best
whistles made” (seriously) and could call the moose off a mountain.
What’s
your most interesting writing quirk?
Hmmm.
What’s
your favorite thing about the genre you write in?
Well, I started to say writing the sex, but that
seems too obvious. When I’m crafting sex scenes I stay in a constant state of
arousal. No joke. Other than that, I like making up scenes, seeing how the
characters respond. I told my editor the other day, when she pushed me to
change some scenes around, I felt like I was playing with Barbie and Ken, the
Erotic Version, putting them into different scenarios to see how they liked
each one. They liked each one. A lot.
What
is the hardest thing about being an author?
Generating sales, marketing, promoting. It can be
tiresome. Or, an up and down ride, like a really scary rollercoaster. On one
day you’re on cloud nine because readers loved your book. The next day you want
to shoot plastic doll heads because a reader loathed your work. Best thing is
to not look at reviews or sales on a daily basis.
What’s
the easiest thing about being an author?
Writing’s the easiest. When I’m immersed in a story
I’m truly happy.

us about your latest release!
I love, love, love,
my latest release, Looks like Trouble to Me. It’s about
a guy -- playboy, yacht builder, photographer, sexy Jace Savage. Like any
decent bad boy, he owns a motorcycle, a sweet little café racer called a
Grievous Angel. He’s lived a reckless life side by side with his trustifarian
prick of a friend, Billy O’Reilly. Has used his potent sexuality and his will
to get what he wants, his intelligence to get what he needs, but he’s only been
in love once - until he meets Zoé Dubois. Zoé’s a student, with one semester
left before she becomes a landscape designer. She’s smart, pretty, funny but
has a few trust issues. Jace will bring out the worst in her with his
unwillingness to let her in. He hides himself from her.
The two fall into a tempestuous, passionate love
affair. They can’t stay away from one another. Sometimes, it seems like they’d
be better off forgetting they ever met.
My editor pushed hard to make sure I upped the
tension on every page. Even I don’t know what will happen to the pair in book
2! I hope you read and enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed writing it.

“Tell you what.”
Her head whipped back to face him. “What?”
“You get one question. I’ll answer one more
question. I need to be inside you, baby. After that, you get another.”
“That’s not fair.” She seemed to squirm, conflicted.
She wanted him, too, he knew it. “What’s not fair is
you being so far from me.”
Her nostrils flared slightly. She huffed out a rush
of breath. “What did you do on Billy’s yacht?”
“We partied. A lot. I’d gone through a horrible,
painful breakup and I needed to get her out of my head.”
“That doesn’t sound so bad,” she said, frowning.
“Who was she?”
“That’s two. I told you I’d only answer one.” He got
to his feet, watching her lean back slightly, legs parting ever so
slightly. Good, he thought.
“Come on, Jace, who was she?”
“What does it matter who she was? She’s no longer in
my life.” He took a step toward Zoé.
“What made it a horrible breakup?”
He took another step. “For someone who’s already
used up her one question, you’re awfully persistent.” He crouched before her,
spreading her legs wide, placing his hands on her hips. “Mmm, you smell good,”
he said, inhaling her lovely scent.
“Stop, Jace, I need more answers,” she said,
threading her fingers into his hair.
“And I need to get these pants off you.” His hands
reached for the zipper.
She fell back on the couch. “Not fair.”
“It’s totally fair. We made a deal, baby.” He tugged
the pants from her beautiful legs. “Love the sexy lingerie, babe. You have
incredible taste.” His fingers pushed under the elastic, skimming along her
hips.
“Jace,” she said in a breathy voice. “What are you
doing?”
“I’m making you feel fantastic. That’s my guess.
Lift those hips so I can slip these off.”
She complied, without protest. “You said you wanted
me to tell you something.”
He paused. “I did, yeah. But now we’re doing this.”
He paused. “I did, yeah. But now we’re doing this.”
