healed in the first place be fixed, again?

Becca falls for someone new, but will her heart be safe. Will she survive the secrets that come

Excerpt for The Lonely Girl...
I wipe my tears off my face hoping I’m not going to display an ugly cry face when I turn to see this man.

“Yeah, it really is beautiful.”

When my eyes catch his I’m thrown back by the mere sight of him and gasp. God, is there something in the food here? He’s beautiful and not in a girlie way. He has the most piercing hazel eyes you can imagine. What my friends from back home would call ‘panty droppers’. He’s slim, but built, and I’d say slightly over six feet. He’s got honey brown hair that sweeps to the side, with what looks like permanent helmet head, but it’s so sexy. He gives me a sexy smirk and I know he’s flirting.

“Oh, yeah, the water is beautiful too.”

I find myself wanting to giggle like the high schooler I am, but I’m so shocked he’s talking about me that I just turn and face the water again. I hear the crunch of the ground behind me and for a second I think he’s leaving but then I see him sit next to me.

“What’s got a beautiful girl like you out here and all upset?”

Circle of Dishonor Super Book Blast by Carla Swafford #contest #romance

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Carla will award one copy of CIRCLE OF DISHONOR at every stop to a randomly drawn commenter, and a $25 Amazon/BN GC to one randomly chosen winner via Rafflecopter during the tour. Please click the banner to see the other stops on this tour.

John “Ice” Takahashi’s final job for The Circle has an unexpected hitch in it; he’s fallen for an innocent civilian and his enemies know it. With his mission in a shambles, he’ll do anything to protect her, including kill. So how can a man without honor prove he’s worthy of her love?

Lena Matthews feels like she’s playing with fire by dating the mysterious Master J. He’s exotic, dangerous, and exactly what she needs in her boring life. With the bad guys bearing down on them, she discovers a whole new world of sensuality that binds her heart to his forever.

Now enjoy an excerpt:

Lena Matthews felt like a perverted voyeur.

Sitting in a coffee shop across the courtyard from the martial arts studio’s glass storefront, she stared at the tae kwon do class as they kicked and jabbed. Most of the students wore white pajama-like uniforms, except for the teacher. He stood out in black with his shaggy dark hair and ripped body. The man looked good enough to lick.

For the last five weeks after her tai chi class, she’d claimed the same chair and watched his every move. Behind her, others in the coffee shop chatted about the class and the mysterious man leading it.

From what she’d overheard, his name was John Takahashi, and the students called him Master J.

Master? Oh, yeah. She could imagine he’d master many things. With his strong hands and long muscled arms and legs, he likely controlled any situation or person. He could easily lift and hold her against the wall as he stroked her to a climax. She whimpered and squeezed her knees together.

A shake of her head knocked out the dirty thoughts racing through her mind. She knew better. He’d never be attracted to an ordinary person like her. The woman he chose would be totally the opposite of her: young, athletic with honey blonde hair. Lena was about as interesting as watching bread turn to toast.

Carla Swafford is a lithe twenty-nine year old with long auburn hair and sparkling dark eyes who loves dancing with her gypsy friends. Geez! Can you tell I love writing fiction? Now for the real stuff: I'm married to my high school sweetheart and live in Alabama. I swear my stories are more exciting.

Enjoy an excerpt:

Bright and early Saturday morning, Theresa Sanchez opened her front door to discover Zachary Hunter clad in a bright orange dress on her porch. The loose bodice fell low on his chest, displaying dark blond curls and showcasing his broad shoulders and powerful torso. The neon hemline stopped above the knees, revealing muscular calves, strong ankles, and shapely feet.

It was unusual attire for a dominant male werewolf.

She stepped closer and sniffed, seeking to satisfy the impulses of her she-wolf. The earthy scent of him flooded her nostrils—masculine and potent—inciting the heated ache of arousal between her thighs. She licked her lips, hoping that drool hadn’t dribbled down her chin. The man made her mouth water.

“My eyes are up here, love,” Zach quipped in a crisp British accent. His hand lifted and a long, elegant finger tapped her chin.

“Oh, right. Sorry.” She forced her roaming eyes upward, away from his buff chest, striving to remember that she and Zach didn’t play like that. The man was many things to her: best friend, confidant, and protector. He fixed leaky faucets and kept her ancient car running. But of all the roles he played, he remained “lover” only in her dreams.

Nothing Like The Art Of Love And Murder! #contest #suspense #TWRP

Today I have fellow The Wild Rose Press Author, Brenda Whiteside! She's chatting about her newest release, The Art of Love And Murder. She also has a $25 Amazon gift card up for grabs. Enjoy!

~Mia

~*~

Mia, thank you so much for having me on your fun blog. I hope all of your readers will take the time to enter my rafflecopter giveaway of a $25 Amazon Gift Card. There are several ways to enter. Okay, let’s have fun!

Coffee, tea or…what’s your vice?
Boring but it’s coffee – so strong that no one else in my family will drink what I make.

Favorite Movie: Dirty Dancing

Favorite Color: Periwinkle

Favorite book/author: This varies year to year, but right now it’s the Prey Series.

How do you feel about bacon? Unhealthy, empty calories, too much sodium – but ever so often I have to have a BLT.

I think there's too much tomato on it... :-)

The REAL questions…

Tell us a little about yourself.
In my first life, I thought I’d be an artist. Instead, I married too young to a guy in the army. Thanks to those years, I got hooked on moving around and we spent many years like gypsies. Somewhere along the way I took a creative writing class and put my paint brushes away. We’ve finally settled down on the northern
prairies of Arizona. We share our rambling farmhouse with our son the farmer, his wife, my granddaughter and three dogs. Together, we’ve embraced an age-old lifestyle that has been mostly lost in the United States - multiple generations living under one roof, who share the workload, follow their individual dreams and reap the benefits of combined talents. When I’m not writing, I might be weeding the garlic, harvesting cucumbers or picking blackberries.

I blog on the 9th and 24th of every month at http://rosesofprose.blogspot.com
I blog about writing and prairie life at http://brendawhiteside.blogspot.com/

What’s under your bed?
Computer paper, Christmas place mats and a framed picture of my husband’s great grandfather that is very scary. Seriously. My husband and our son are the last of the Whiteside men so we are blessed with the picture. It’s best left under the bed.

What comes first, plot or characters?
Characters and they help me come up with the plot.

Oddest thing on your desk?
A thimble made of seal fur that my sister sent me when she worked in Alaska many years ago.

What’s your favorite thing about the genre you write in?
I’m writing a romantic suspense series and I’ve found I love writing the villain. What most surprised me about me is that I can really get into the head of these villains.

What is the hardest thing about being an author?
Selling yourself and your books. Promotion is so much a part of an author’s career these days. In most cases, it goes against an author’s basic makeup. It’s a lonely profession, creating stories that leave us naked and then we have to expose ourselves! But how else will anyone know we have novels to offer for the entertainment of the masses?

Tell us about your latest release!
I’m getting great reviews for The Art of Love and Murder, book one in my Love and Murder Series. Lacy Dahl, prompted by her daughter, sets out to research some art left by her birth parents who died in an airplane crash when she was an infant. She goes to Flagstaff, Arizona armed with the sketches and visits a step-aunt, an art gallery and a museum. Those visits lead to a collector of the artist’s work and an old friend of her birth mother.  Everyone appears to be holding back some truth. And from her first night in town when she is followed down a dark alley, danger lurks, but she doesn’t know why. When a Paul Bunyan of a man who happens to be the sheriff, comes to her aid, the mystery gets even murkier. His ties to a murder and the art may or may not hinder their relationship. Lacy finds herself discovering secrets and lies that threaten her life.

Blurb for The Art of Love and Murder:
Lacy Dahl never questioned her past until the deaths of her adoptive parents and her husband. A husband who wasn't what he seemed. Her research uncovers secrets about the mother she never knew; secrets that dispute the identity of her father and threaten her life.

Sheriff Chance Meadowlark is still haunted by the murder of his wife and the revenge he unleashed in the name of justice. When he meets Lacy he is determined not to become involved, but their pasts may make that impossible. As they move closer to the truth, saving Lacy may be his only salvation.

Lacy begins to think the present is more important than her past...until Chance's connection to her mother and a murder spin her deeper into danger and further from love. Will the truth destroy Lacy and Chance or will it be the answer that frees them?

Excerpt from The Art of Love and Murder...
Momentarily struck dumb by his eye color, she stared back. Why hadn’t she noticed until now? Although not as light as hers or her father’s, the professor’s eyes were a startling green shade.
His hand nudged her arm. “Lacy?”
She jumped. “Oh, yes.” She slipped the tissue from the half-carved wolf. Another glance at his eyes and goose bumps riddled her arms.
He lifted the wood close to his face, using both hands as if handling a delicate hummingbird. His thumb traced the neck of the creature to the juncture of where it emerged from the wood. When he brought the piece to his nose, closing his eyes and breathing deeply, Lacy wanted to turn away from the oddly erotic gesture.
He swallowed, opened his eyes and set the wolf back on the tissue. His attention shifted to the photograph of the chest. He touched the photo, a smile on his lips. “Where is the chest?”
The chest. Like he knew it, had seen it before. “I’m having it sent. You’ve seen it before?”
He didn’t move, stared out the window as if deep in thought. “I’d like to show you something, Lacy.”
“All right.” She waited, watching his profile.
He turned and stared into her face a moment. “You’re so very lovely. A creation full of life and passion, surpassing any art form.”
His hypnotic voice floated on the classical strains drifting from the living room. She couldn’t speak. Didn’t know what to say. She’d been lifted upon a pedestal of admiration. With any other man, she might consider his words a means to a sexual end. The professor’s intentions, however, were crystal. He admired her like a work of art.

I always ask people if they believe in the Loch Ness Monster. It has always been something I believed in. I have always wanted to see concrete evidence of Nessie, and hold out the hope that she exists.

My new release is about a purity group called The Yellow Jackets who are struggling to hold onto their purity. While lots of them have their own reasons for being in the group, the fairer sex is hard to resist.

~*~

Blurb for Why Yellow Jackets Can’t Find the Hole

The Yellow Jackets are a group of young men in their early twenties who have taken a vow of sexual purity. But making a vow and keeping a vow is two different things. Each of them struggle in one way or the other to remain sexually unscathed. Bryant, one of the Jackets, has moved off campus from the all-boys school and finds himself neighbors to a very tantalizing beauty. Only this girl is much more than she seems, and unbeknownst to Bryant, she makes it her mission in life to take his virginity. Bryant and his roommates, in the meantime, are slowly discovering that all of their fellow Yellow Jackets have secrets. Not to mention that there’s a spy in their midst—one who is doing everything he possibly can to expose the fact that the Yellow Jackets are not as ‘pure’ as they all seem.

Excerpt for Why Yellow Jackets Can’t Find the Hole
But something happened when he took Summer’s hand and looked into her eyes. The whole world stood still and an electric shock went through her hand to his. His mind was trying to make sense of the connection he made to her. Every thought flipped through his mind from soul mates to repulsion and his mind was torn between every emotion. This wasn't normal.

He hadn't had much contact with girls.

Okay, he hadn’t had any contact with girls.

All the same he was convinced this electric touch must have meant something special.

“Sorry,” her voice broke through, distracting him from his momentary lapse from reality, “I must have rubbed the carpet with my feet on my way in.”

Bryant felt really stupid that he hadn’t thought of that first. His mind had been completely out in left field somewhere, and he hoped his mental faculties came back sometime soon. If he didn’t get it together quickly, this could end badly.

Dina Redmon And To Speak of it Again #Womensfiction #contest

Today we have an interview with Dina Redmon. She's chatting about “To Speak of it Again”, her first novel that is based on her life story. She's giving away a super surprise swag pack and 2 e-books, so stay tuned to enter!

~Mia

~*~

Interview questions for Dina Redmon…

Quick round:

Coffee, tea or…what’s your vice?
I’m a water fiend! As long as the water has been heated and pressed through ground up beans.

Favorite Movie:
The 1962 amazingly epic film “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane”!!! THE RAT!!!

Favorite Color:
I know before I even type this there are people who will tell me it’s not a color. It happens almost every time. BUT…my favorite color is white.

Favorite book/author:
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne

How do you feel about bacon?
No words are necessary when people share the same perpetual hunger for bacon. Mmmm…bacon.

The REAL questions…
Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m just me and me, just like the weather, changes from moment to moment. There is a basic/underlying, always there person though, I guess. Wait, do I sound as crazy as I think I do? Shit…did it again. I’m just your basic chick here. I procrastinate until I can’t any longer. My personal philosophy is “It’s never too late to do your hair and/or make-up. Sometimes we just want to feel pretty, damnit!!” (Though honestly, I seldom wear it during the day.) Oh, and I bake the best damned homemade bread EVER!

What’s under your bed?
There’s a duffle bag containing a tarp, rope, combination hatchet/shovel tool, duct tape and a sleeping bag. I like to be prepared to go last minute camping. *wink* Really? Nothing. I just moved so for the next month or so, things will be spotless…but give it a while and it’ll be full of junk I thought I needed at one time.

What comes first, plot or characters?
Depends. I know…I know. In this case, it’s not just a generic answer though. Sometimes I’m intrigued with someone’s story, or maybe even my own, and a storyline develops from it. There are other times I will hear or see something that makes me think of a character and I form a story around that person. So…what comes first? Inspiration. *smile*

Pantser, plotter, or hybrid? Tell us about your writing process.
Again, I find it difficult to give a one word answer because I am not really any of it…including the hybrid. Well, maybe? Okay, so as stated in the last answer, I am inspired by things I experience in life and either a character or storyline is developed from that, at least somewhat. Plotter? Maybe. I tend to make a lot of nonsensical notes that I never refer to. Panster? A little. I tend to just write from the hip. Kind of like what I’m doing here. I hope that made sense.

Oddest thing on your desk?
I’m torn between the bottle of diluted green soap leftover from the last tattoo I did and the hot glue gun I just used in a project. Or maybe it’s the white button that mysteriously appeared on the kitchen floor today. I’m sure it was left by the spirit of someone who died in here… I promise. I’m not as crazy as it sounds. *wink and nervous smile*

What’s your most interesting writing quirk?
I have the same habit when I write as I do with any other form of art I create. I must…I mean MUST have gum or Tic Tacs in my mouth.

What’s your favorite thing about the genre you write in?
It’s real. Everything I write is at least in part based on my own life or that of the people I’ve met along my journeys.

What is the hardest thing about being an author?
Knowing when to stop and as you can see, I’m not very good at it. *wink*

What’s the easiest thing about being an author?
Getting started. When inspiration hits me, I am willed to write.

What do you wish someone had asked you for an interview question? Here’s your chance to get the soap box out!

You forgot to ask what my favorite part of being an author is… It’s the readers. I love…abso-freaking-lutely LOVE the interaction with the fans. Soapbox? No need this time. I think every once in a while, we just need to have some fun.

Tell us about your latest release!
It’s a story about our ability to adapt while discovering our own strengths through the things that make us feel weak.

Blurb for “To Speak of it Again”

We all have a story. This is mine…

After tragedy struck our neighborhood, my family and I packed up and moved from our little city home in California to the backwoods of Minnesota. Even at the young age of six, I noticed my surroundings weren’t the only thing that changed.

I learned what fear was. I was scared of the unknown, frightened of failing and terrified of my father coming home.

I thought I escaped it.

Old habits die hard and I continued to live in that fear as an adult. Childhood memories haunted my every step, thought and action. I lived for other’s happiness, denying my own…until I just couldn’t deny it any longer.

I finally escaped.

Hi, I’m Maggie Reed and I’m a survivor.

Excerpt for “To Speak of it Again”

I hope that as you read my story, you’ll discover I’m a hopeless romantic. I believe in a white picket fence kind of love. You know, the kind of love we read about in romance books. The type of love that is played out on the big screen when the actress is scooped up, kissed and her foot pops off the floor. I dream of the kind of love that is sung about in real love songs and the love that is promised in the fairy tales read to us as we fade away to dreamland.

I feel there’s a difference between falling in love and loving someone. Falling in love is a chemical reaction in our brains to the newness of meeting someone who causes you to feel butterflies in your stomach. It’s the adult equivalent of having a crush. Loving someone is a conscious decision we make. I believe we choose who we’re going to love and how we’re going to love them. Real love is about forgiveness and knowing yourselves so completely you’re able to trust in the love you have for one another. It’s a promise to wake up every morning and fall in love all over again. When it’s real, you live and thrive in that promise.
