What @ChristiSnow Found At The Library #mm #romance #releaseday

Today is release day for my friend, Christi Snow! She's sharing with us an excerpt for Found At The Library, her m/m holiday romance out today. Enjoy!

~Mia

Found at the Library Story Description:

His entire life, Tommy Garrett has dealt with self-doubts. He thought he’d conquered the majority of them until a chance meeting with an author brought his illiteracy to the forefront...again. Growing up with un-diagnosed dyslexia has left Tommy barely able to read, but books are his Nirvana. Now he spends his life creating art dedicated to the love of those “untouchable” items.

Robert McIntyre, Mac, is a best-selling, highly celebrated author. But his point of view has become a little bit too narrow...until Tommy opens his eyes. That chance meeting has changed everything about his world. He has no idea how to find the beautiful man he met, and offended, at the library book sale. But when he does, Tommy’s life is in crisis-mode. It’s the holidays and Mac can’t just standby when Tommy needs help, whether Tommy wants it or not.

Two artistic men. One shared passion for books.

Life is hard, and sometimes when conflict arises you have to write your own plot twist to pull yourself out of the fray.

Excerpt from Found at the Library...
That tight ass, with high, muscular cheeks, was the first thing Mac saw when he entered the room in search of the artist. Then the whole, very fine, body turned and shifted. Mac’s nerves caught fire as he recognized that curly mop of hair. The look of complete surprise on the man’s face would have been humorous if it hadn’t precluded his hard tumble to the floor. This was the guy from the book sale. Tommy.
And he was naked.
So naked.
Mac knew he shouldn’t, but he looked. This man had a body that looked so much better than Mac had ever suspected...long lean muscles that were slightly defined, a nice dusting of chest hair, and nipples the color of his favorite candy caramels. Mac just thought insomnia had plagued him before. From now on, every time he closed his eyes, this vision would fill his mental picture. And wow, what a vision it was.
Despite being tall, Tommy’s long legs and limbs complemented his broad shoulders and hard chest that narrowed to his tapered waist. And there it was... holy cow, his cock was impressive, even in its completely relaxed state.
Mac tilted his head. Well, maybe not quite so relaxed as Tommy’s dick began to harden under Mac’s gaze.
“Hey, perv,” the man yelled as he tried to cover himself with his hands. “What the hell do you think you’re doing? Get the hell out of my loft. This is private property.”
Despite his hands shielding the member, Tommy’s cock hardened more. The sight gave Mac ideas...ideas he hadn’t had in years. When was the last time he’d had the urge to bottom?
But as he glanced up at the red-face of the beautiful man, Mac realized the guy was right. Damn, he was being a pervert. Mac turned his back to allow Tommy to untangle his long, muscular legs from his jeans in private.
“Sorry,” Mac said. “I wasn’t expecting you to be naked, and then I got overwhelmed by the sight of all that luscious skin of yours. You’re right, that was pervy of me and I apologize for it, but I’m assuming you’re Thomas Garrett.”
Clothing rustled behind him.
“Yeah, and who are you so I can give the right information when I call the police?”
Mac winced. Yeah, this wasn’t the way he wanted to start off this relationship ...again.

A Confronting #SPeekSunday with Switching Leads #CampusCravings #mm

Welcome to Sneak Peek Sunday!

The rules are simple. Post 6 paragraphs (no more, no less) from either a WIP or a published work. That's it!

Here are 6 paragraphs from Switching Leads, my novella in the Campus Cravings Higher Learning m/m boxed set just released yesterday!!!!

The Set-up...
This is from a scene in the bar. John is having a few drinks to take away the horror of his boss hiring his ex-boyfriend to be his new assistant coach for Cathia U's equestrian team. Finn has pissed John off his first day in town, and despite being a recovering alcoholic, Finn shows up at the bar, trying to make amends. John has good reason to be angry with Finn, but will he let bygones be bygones, or is Finn going to have to work a little harder?
Switching Leads
“How about I take you home and save you a few bucks?” Finn could make amends in the car. Maybe take him for coffee and a homemade donut at Sunshine’s. It had been a favorite ritual after a night out together. In the past, they’d have a donut and then go back to Finn’s and have hot sex. The thought of John up against a shower wall, groaning Finn’s name as he sucked him dry won out over the pull of booze. Heat rushed through his groin straight to his .
Their gazes met, and for a split second, a flicker of desire crossed John’s features as he probably recalled those nights, too. His gaze darted to Finn’s mouth, and his Adam’s apple bobbed. John drew in a ragged breath, and Finn prayed he’d say yes.
But he shook his head and signaled to the bartender. “No, thanks.”
Swallowing his heart and hope, Finn dug out his wallet and gestured with it. “At least let me pay.”
John shot him a sad smile. “Yeah, you owe me that at least.”
Misery stabbed through Finn’s chest and seized his heart. He fished two twenties out of his wallet and tossed them on the bar. He turned before John could comment on the pain that had to be evident on his face. Yeah, Finn did owe him cab fare and so much more. Somehow, he’d find a way to make up for everything.

EXCERPT from A Bite in Time

“Euro for your thoughts?” Vincent teased as he kissed John’s neck.

“Maybe a dollar. At least I can spend it at home.” John touched Vincent’s face. “I wish we had another day, that’s all.”

Vincent kissed him and John’s cock nudged forward.

John pulled away. “We better get going. Shower first.”

“Good idea.” Vincent charming smile hinted of mischief.

Warmth spread across John’s chest. Shit. He was officially a sap reacting so easily to Vincent’s charm.

Biting his lip, he stood and pressed one hand on Vincent’s shoulder, stopping him from rising. “Alone.” How to explain the need to build back his defenses, so once they returned to Arizona, his relationship with Vincent existed, once again, in the privacy of their homes.

“We’re leaving in an hour,” John added, putting an end to fooling around.

Vincent leaned back on his elbows, his legs stretched out giving John an eye full of what he’d miss showering alone. John ran his hand across his scalp, ogling but not caring.

“More reason for me to shower with you,” Vincent said. “Once we’re home, you’ll stuff me back into the closet.”

The hairs on John’s nape stood as a flint of anger lit in him. Vincent read his thoughts and it was goddamn irritating. Then his shoulders slumped. Jesus. A big, bad cop scared of coming out. It had been a few months since he committed to making their relationship work. He was beginning to trust Vincent completely, and planned to make headway, but damn if he hated Vincent baiting him about coming out.

Didn’t Vincent get it? He didn’t like being pushed against the wall. And yet he had made a promise he would make the attempt. That he wouldn’t let his attitude come in the way of a relationship. To be fair, Vincent held back his impatience, most of the time.

“This has been great,” John waved his hand to take in the room. “But it’s a far cry from Arizona. Julie knows, and I’m going to tell Free, but I’m not ready to tell my peers or my parents.”

No matter how much he craved for an open relationship, once back in Arizona, he’d be Detective John Reeder, straight son of Irish Catholic parents. Sure he’d made slight progress, telling his sister he was gay. But from asimple thing like telling his sister who’d already guessed to coming out to his parents was a long fucking way. Yet, guilt overwhelmed John every time he pulled back from Vincent’s touch in public, the hurt in his lover’s eyes eating at him.

Vincent slipped on his robe, his good-natured teasing vanished. “John, when will you face who you are? A gay man with a boyfriend who loves you. I refuse to be treated as a shameful secret.”

Love? Did he say love? Oh fuck.

#VBT That You Are Here and a Q&A with Meredith Allard #mm #glbt #contest

Today we have a virtual book tour with Meredith Allard! She's sitting in the hot seat with questions to be answered and discussing That You Are Here, her m/m romance. She also has a tour-wide contest going on. One randomly chosen Grand Prize winner will receive a $25 Amazon or BN GC and a runner up will receive a digital copy of the novel. Enjoy!

~*~

Interview questions for Meredith Allard…

Quick round:
Coffee, tea or…what’s your vice? I love both, but I’ll normally go for coffee.
 Favorite Movie: Dead Poet’s Society
Favorite Color:  Purple
Favorite book/author: David Copperfield by Charles Dickens
How do you feel about bacon? I’m a vegetarian, so bacon is a no-go for me.

The REAL questions…

Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a writer currently living in Las Vegas, Nevada (it’s true, people really live here). In addition to writing novels, I’m also the executive editor of The Copperfield Review, a journal for readers and writers of historical fiction. I’ve been teaching writing for more than ten years now, as well. When I’m not writing or teaching, I like to find great vegetarian and vegan recipes since I love to cook. I also love movies, Broadway musicals, and I’m a big fan of Downton Abbey. My favorite place to travel is London, and I’m going again this summer and I’m so excited. Pinterest is my new love since it’s the one place where I can indulge in all my interests at the same time.

What’s under your bed?
My cat. (That’s not a joke, by the way. I can hear him snoring from here.)

What comes first, plot or characters?
For me, it’s usually characters. Then my job is to figure out what happens to them and what they learn from it along the way.

Pantser, plotter, or hybrid? Tell us about your writing process.
I begin by plotting out the story from beginning to end so at least I have a blueprint to work with when I start. But I know that as I continue writing often the characters will take over the story and bring it in directions I hadn’t originally thought of. That’s all part of the fun of writing fiction for me—I can start with the greatest plan, but I know it’s going to change along the way and I like that.

Oddest thing on your desk?
My cat (I have three). She’s looking out the window at the moment.

What’s your most interesting writing quirk?
Probably that I have the ability to procrastinate like nobody’s business when it’s time to write. I’ll cook, clean, do the dishes, feed the cats, check my e-mail—it takes me a while to settle down, but once I’m writing I could keep at it for hours.

What’s your favorite thing about the genre you write in?
I write in several genres, and I like that. That You Are Here is the first time I’ve written an m/m love story. I’ve also written historical fiction, paranormal, and literary fiction. I like jumping around from genre to genre. It keeps things interesting for me and hopefully for my readers. I think I’d be bored writing the same type of story over and over again.

What is the hardest thing about being an author?
Finding time to write when I have a day job. Luckily, I have summers off so I can feel like a full time writer then.

What’s the easiest thing about being an author?
Coming up with story ideas. I have an active imagination, as most authors do, and I have a lot of ideas floating through my head at any and all times of the day and night. I love kicking around a story idea until I can start to see the novel come into shape. I love that I can take these crazy scenes that I see so clearly in my head and share them with others. I’ve always had an overactive imagination, as most fiction writers do, and writing fiction is an outlet for my imagination. I started as a screenwriter, but screenwriting was too much like a blueprint for me. I love describing the room where the action takes place. I love describing the characters’ clothing, and what they’re thinking and feeling. I love the entire world building process and making that world come alive for the reader.

What do you wish someone had asked you for an interview question? Here’s your chance to get the soap box out!
I love the question about what do I do when I’m not writing. I love to write, it’s true, but I have a lot of other interests as well. I read a lot—and I love everything, fiction, nonfiction, poetry. I have a particular taste for historical fiction and history-based nonfiction. Time permitting, I’ll watch an entire season of Downton Abbey in one sitting. I love taking dance classes at the gym like Zumba or belly dancing. I’m a vegetarian and I love to cook, so I’m always looking for great vegetarian recipes. My ultimate luxury is to have an entire day to myself where I don’t even have to leave the house. I’ll read my magazines, a book I’ve been meaning to get to, listen to music, catch up on my television shows, or just stare at the wall if that’s what I want to do.

Tell us about your latest release!
The greatest compliments I’ve received about That You Are Here is that people who don’t normally read m/m love stories have enjoyed reading it because it focuses on such a human story, and That You Are Here has the highest rating of any of my novels on Amazon and Goodreads. Everyone has to learn how to feel comfortable in their own skin, and everyone has choices to make in their lives about how they’re going to live their best lives while being honest about who they are. Andrew Whittaker and Mark Bryce have quite a journey to travel together, and I hope they are a couple readers cheer for. I hope readers with open minds will give That You Are Here a try.

~*~

BLURB for That You Are Here:

On the outside, handsome, successful attorney Andrew Whittaker has everything in life. On the inside, he has everything too, only he doesn't know it. He hides the love of his life, Mark Bryce, from his family and everyone else where he lives in Portland, Oregon. Soon the weight of the secret becomes too much for Andrew. After wrestling with himself and his place in the world, he must decide how he’s going to live—with or without Mark.

Blurb for The Christmas Top

All he wants for Christmas…
It’s time for Mark Cummins to come out of the closet. He’s ready, but he’s never been topped. Asking Madame Eve for the one-night stand of his fantasies, he hopes she can grant his Christmas wish.

He’s a less-than-merry gentleman…
Jason Wieland’s life partner died in a horrific hate crime two years before and he hasn’t taken a lover since. He knows it’s time, and he reaches out to the 1Night Stand dating service to find the right man to light up his holiday. But when masculine, sexy, and extremely straight Mark shows up, he doesn’t know what to do. Is this 1Night Stand a cruel joke or has Madame Eve truly worked Christmas magic?

Excerpt
“Listen, you seem like a nice guy, but I think Madame Eve must have made a mistake here. I don’t think we’re compatible.” He started to stand, but Mark’s hand on his arm halted him.

“Wait. I don’t know what I did wrong, but I don’t think she made a mistake. I’m incredibly attracted to you.”

Jason lowered into his chair with a reluctant sigh. “So, you’re telling me you’re gay.” He winced. He hadn’t meant to attack the guy, but he wouldn’t be made a fool of, either.

“Yes. Why would you think otherwise?” His brows furrowed. “Why else would I be here?”

Running a hand through his hair, Jason tried to get a read off the other guy. Was he just bored and out to try something new? That couldn’t be it, could it? “Is this some sort of mid-life sexual experiment for you? Have you even been with another guy before?”

“I don’t know where you’re getting all this from. I certainly haven’t had this type of issue with other guys. Usually they’re fine with me wanting to hook up with them. What did you think this was? Madame Eve sets up one-night stands. I’m not looking for a commitment.” He narrowed his eyes. “You know what…never mind, I shouldn’t have come. I never should have accepted the invitation. Whenever something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. I wish I could say ‘nice to meet you, Sidney,’ but unfortunately now I wish I’d stayed home for the holidays with my family.”

Jason didn’t miss the flash of hurt and disappointment on his face as he stalked away. Damn, that appeared genuine. A knot settled low in his belly. Had he misjudged the situation? He played back over the evening as he took off in a jog after Mark.
